DescriptionLarge dragonfly with black and yellow color. The egg-laying of females is very long, however, the eggs are laid on the fly in the ground, to a small depth of water bodies and without the male. Larvae live in flowing waters. In the larvae at the distal end of the lateral blade of the mask, the arrangement of the teeth is irregular, without grouping. The movable hook is slightly stronger than the teeth [1] .
AreaMediterranean region , Balkans [4] , Transcaucasia , mountains of Central Asia , Western Asia [5] .
On the territory of Kazakhstan , apparently, a subtype of Cordulegaster insignis coronatus is represented (some authors consider it an independent species) [1] . It does not occur on the plains, in the mountains it rises to heights up to 2700 meters above sea level [2] .
Subspecies- C. i. coronata
- C. i. insignis
- C. i. lagodechica
