History
Both teams are the only representatives of Bradford in professional football. The nickname Derby of the Woolen City refers to the story of Bradford , a wool trader.
The winner of the match is awarded the Tom Banks Memorial Trophy. [2]
Between the 1929-30 and 1936-37 season, rivalry continued until the City was demoted (Park Avenue was one position higher than its fellow countrymen in the final table). The Derby started again from the 1950-51 season to the 1957-58 season in the third division (north), and the game in the FA Cup tournament in December 1951 also fell into this interval. The reorganization of the football league prevented the clubs from meeting soon, until in the 1963-64 season they were in the fourth division (although the teams played in the FA Cup in December 1958 and the League Cup in September 1963).
Clubs played with each other for six consecutive years, until in the 1968-69 season the City from fourth place made it to the third division, and Park Avenue, which appeared at the bottom of the table, was able to re-enter the fourth division. The next season, Avenue failed the re-election and was replaced by the Cambridge United team, in 1974 its liquidation began.
Currently, the games between the teams are held on a friendly basis a week before the start of the new football season.
