Otto Scheuerer learned painting as a self-taught person, perhaps with the help of his brother Julius. He then studied with Karl Raup , and was not on the list of students at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich .
Scheuerer was a member of the Society of Artists in Munich. An example for his paintings was the Dutch old masters. Along with poultry, he also painted hunting scenes. In his early works, the influence of Bavarian masters is noticeable.
