Liepaja port ( Latvian: Liepājas osta ) is one of the largest ports in Latvia .
Consists of three main parts. Winter Harbor is located in a trade channel and serves as a parking lot for small local fishing vessels, as well as medium-sized cargo vessels. To the north of the trading channel is the main port area , separated from the open sea by a pier. This part of the port can accommodate large ships and ferries. Further north is Tosmar Harbor (or the Tosmar Canal), which used to be a military harbor, and is currently used for ship repair and other commercial purposes.
The large port of Liepaja is a major transshipment point, where oil products, metal, timber, containers, coal, ore, chemical cargo, and scrap are handled. According to the results of the first half of 2011, the cargo turnover of the Big Liepaja Port amounted to 34 million tons.
