Robinson, Daniel

Daniel N. Robinson ( born Daniel 9 Robinson , March 9, 1937 - September 17, 2018 ) is an American philosopher, Emeritus Professor Emeritus of Philosophy at Georgetown University and a member of the (Fello) Department of Philosophy at Oxford University .

Career

Robinson's publications concerned various branches of philosophy, in particular ethics , philosophy of psychology, philosophy of jurisprudence , philosophy of consciousness , intellectual history , history of state and law , history of psychology. He has held academic positions at Amherst College, Georgetown University, Princeton and Columbia Universities. In addition, he served as chief consultant to PBS and the BBC for their award-winning Brain and Mind series. In 2011, he received the Gittler Award from the American Psychological Association for his significant contribution to the philosophical foundations of psychology.
