Earth's Cryosphere is a Russian scientific journal devoted to the problems of cryology . It has been produced since 1997. Frequency - 6 issues per year (until 2017 - 4 issues per year). Since 2014, the English version of the magazine has been published. The co-founders of the journal are the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences , the Institute of the Earth Cryosphere, Tyumen Scientific Center of the SB RAS, the Tyumen State University , the Permafrost Institute named after P.I. Melnikov SB RAS . The editor-in-chief of the journal is Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vladimir Melnikov . The magazine is published at the GEO Academic Publishing House. The journal is included in the list of publications recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission for the publication of the main scientific results of dissertations for the degree of candidate of sciences, for the degree of doctor of sciences (as of 11/23/2017); indexed in a Scopus database.

History
The decision to create the Earth Cryosphere magazine was made on the basis of Decree of the Presidium of the SB RAS No. 68 dated 07/05/1996. The editor-in-chief of the journal, Academician V.P. Melnikov and the founders of the journal are the Siberian Branch of the RAS and the Institute of the Earth Cryosphere of the SB RAS. Since 2017, the co-founders also include the Permafrost Institute. P.I. Melnikova SB RAS and Tyumen State University .

"Cryosphere of the Earth" - illuminates the problems of cryology [1] . One of the objectives of the journal is to unite the scientific community to form a unified scientific concept of the Earth's cryosphere , multidisciplinary study of its role in the development of the Earth’s geographic shell , the influence of cryospheric factors on the ecology and life support of the biosphere and the dynamics of global processes.
As the executive secretary of the journal, Dr. med. CM. Fotiev:
214 organizations of Russia (766 authors from 39 cities) and 22 foreign organizations (60 authors) from 43 cities of Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Germany, Holland, Georgia, Denmark, Israel, Kazakhstan, actively collaborated with the editorial board of the Earth Cryosphere magazine, Canada, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, USA, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Finland, France, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan. The result of the work of the editorial board, editorial groups in Moscow and Novosibirsk, reviewers and authors was the unconditional recognition of the journal "Cryosphere of the Earth" as one of the leading publications on cryology both within our country and abroad
