Biography
Born in 1953 in Vancouver. Bob's childhood and youth passed in Penticton ( British Columbia ) [1] . Graduated from Providence College . In the early 70's, he played for local hockey teams, but Nicholson the hockey player did not go beyond this career.
From 1998 to 2014, Nicholson served as president of the Canada Hockey Federation . During this time, the male and female national teams in total won 7 gold medals of the Olympic Games and 15 awards of the highest standard at the world championships [2] . In this position, he was replaced by Tom Renny May 31, 2014 [3] . Since September 2012, Bob Nicholson has been one of the IIHF Vice Presidents.
Currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Chairman of the Oilers Entertainment Group and HC Edmonton Group of Companies [4] .
In November 2017, information appeared that Nicholson was the main contender for the post of head of the International Hockey Federation after the resignation of Rene Fasel in 2020 [5] .
Personal life
He lives in Edmonton with his wife, writer Lorna Schulz .
