Safonov, Vasily Vasilievich

Vasily Vasilievich Safonov was born on April 9, 1914 in the village of Kolchanovo, Novoladozhsky Uyezd (now the Volkhovsky District of the Leningrad Region). In 1932 he graduated from FZU (school of factory factory apprenticeship) and worked as an electrician at the pulp and paper mill in the village of Syasstroy of the Leningrad Region. He took part in the productions of TRAM (Theater of Working Youth).

In 1933 he entered the theater school at the Leningrad State Academic Theater. A. Pushkin , but did not finish. Since 1935 he performed at the Petrozavodsk Theater for Young Spectators . In 1937-1938 he played in the Leningrad Regional Youth Theater, then in the Leningrad District Theater. In 1939 he performed at the Vologda Theater of Young Spectators , a year later - at the Cherepovets Theater.

In 1941-1989 he played in the Vologda Drama Theater , where he became a leading theater actor. During breaks, he performed in theaters of Chita (1949-1951) and Saratov (1961-1965).

Being an actor of the Chita Drama Theater , for the first time played the role of Lenin in the play “Family” by I. Popov. Returning to Vologda, in the 1950s and early 1970s he played the role of Lenin in all theater performances. In the 1970-1980s, he played age-related and characteristic roles.

He was elected a deputy of the district, city and regional Councils of People's Deputies, was the rector of the University of Culture of the School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR.

He died on March 17, 2007 in Vologda, was buried in the Poshekhonsky cemetery .
