History
The construction of the Ryazan-Ural railway (now Volga) began in the middle of the XIX century. Traffic on the first section from Saratov to Atkarsk was opened in July 1871, and in January 1892 one of the largest railway enterprises of the Russian Empire was formed - the Ryazan-Ural Railway Society.
The Ryazan-Ural road connected 12 provinces with each other, the total length of the path was 4377 versts. In 1896, the first steam ferry railway crossing the Volga River was built near the Uvek peninsula. Abganerovo station was transferred to the Volga Railway in 1953 and was previously part of the Stalingrad and Vladikavkaz railways.
The Abganerovo station was built on the Tsaritsyn – Tikhoretskaya section of the “Society of the Vladikavkaz Railway” and was open for passengers and freight traffic in the summer of 1899 , simultaneously with the commissioning of the section to Kotelnikovo . In 1897-1900, a small village grew up at the station, in which mainly railway workers and their families lived.
During World War II , in 1942, fierce battles and tank battles took place in the station area during defensive and offensive operations of the Red Army in the region of Stalingrad [3] .
