The Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction is an annual American literary award awarded by the University of Georgia Publishing House (UGA Press ), named after the American writer, short story master Flannery O. 'Connor (1925-1964).
Established in 1983 to encourage young writers by attracting the attention of readers and critics to their work, the award has become a kind of testing ground for beginners.
Two winners are selected annually for collections of short stories or short stories. Authors of the winning manuscripts receive a cash prize of $ 1,000, and their works are later published under the terms of a regular contract. Sometimes the publisher selects more than two winners.
