General elections in Honduras were held from February 1, 1881. They elected the president and deputies of the National Congress of Honduras . Marco Aurelio Soto was re-elected as president. [1]

Elections were held under the new scheme. The president became the head of the executive branch. At the end of 1880, Marco Aurelio Soto left the presidency in order to nominate his candidacy for the presidency. The Conservative Party did not stand as a candidate. Liberals nominated Seleo Arias, a lawyer, [2] who was the president of Honduras in 1872-1874. Soto received 82% of the vote and was re-elected president.
