Description
The painting depicts Isabella d'Este (1474-1539), Margraine of Mantua . Titian used his portraiture skills to create a portrait of a famous beauty. Until 1536, until the moment she saw the completed portrait, one of the most admirable and refined women of the Renaissance , was much older than in the portrait, and in order for Titian to depict the duchess as she was in her youth, he used her early portrait.
Elegant Isabella is depicted in a turban . The artist managed to endow her with traits that testify to her nervous character, which does not tolerate objections and thanks to which her outstanding abilities and imperious manners are remembered.
Isabella herself about this portrait said: "He is so good that I doubt that at this age I could be so beautiful."
