Biography
G. Zede was educated at the Paris Polytechnic School and entered the naval service taking the position of ship engineer. For some time he worked as an assistant to the famous French shipbuilder Dupuis de Loma. After some time, he left the fleet, devoting himself entirely to the development of submarines [2] .
In 1886, he was presented with the design of the experimental submarine Zhimnot, the construction of which was completed under his personal control in 1888. The experience of its test operation allowed by 1889 to create the project of the first military submarine "Siren", which was set in motion by an electric motor [2] .
G. Zede died due to a serious wound received during tests of powder torpedoes . After that, the submarine "Siren" received his name [2] .
