Grebenyuk Alexander

Alexander Vasilievich Grebenyuk (born May 2 [1] (according to other sources, May 22) [2] 1951 , Vorontsovo-Aleksandrovskoye , Stavropol Territory , RSFSR , USSR ) - Soviet athlete ( decathlon ), champion and medalist of USSR championships, European champion, Winner of the European Cup, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR (1978). Member of the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal , where he took 9th place [3] .

Biography

Born in the family of collective farmers. At school he loved physical education classes. In his youth, he was a secretary of the Komsomol committee. Graduate of the Stavropol State Pedagogical Institute , specializing in “Teacher of physical education of high school”. Since 1969 - instructor of the Stavropol Regional Council of the All-Russian Voluntary Sports Society "Labor Reserves" , later an instructor of the regional committee for physical education and sports.

After completing his sports career, he became a trainer and teacher in athletics of the Stavropol School of Higher Sports Excellence . Then he was deputy director for sports of a sports boarding school. Since 1989 - Director of the Stavropol College of Olympic Reserve. From May 2012 to October 2013 he served as Minister of Physical Culture, Sports and Youth Policy of the Stavropol Territory [4] [5] .
