Mapire ( Spanish Mapire ) - a city in the north-east of Venezuela , in the state of Ansoategui . It is the administrative center of the municipality of Jose Gregorio Monagas .

Geographical position
Mapire is located in the southwestern part of the state, on the left bank of the Orinoco River, near the confluence of the Mapire River, approximately 255 kilometers south of Barcelona , the state’s administrative center. The absolute height is 6 meters above sea level [1] .
Population
According to the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the population of the city in 2013 was 5326 people [2] .
Transport
On the northern outskirts of the city is a small airport of the same name ( ICAO : SVME) [1] .
