However, among historians, there has been discussion for several decades regarding the personality of Semyon Romanovich - how many sons did his father have, Prince Roman Semyonovich, who reigned in the second half of the XIV - early XV centuries, and whether there was Semyon Romanovich among them.
The three sons of Roman Semenovich are reliably known:
- Vasily Romanovich , prince of Novosilsky, founder of the princes Belevsky
- Lev Romanovich , prince of Novosilsky, the founder of the princes Vorotynsky
- Yuri Romanovich Black , prince of Novilosilsky, the founder of the princes Odoevsky .
The name of Prince Semyon is mentioned only in one "lifetime" source - in the text of the Moscow-Ryazan completion of 1402 [1] [2] . However, the completion was preserved only in the list of the late XV century, with which, most likely, an error is associated. At the beginning of the document, Semyon Romanovich Novosilsky was mentioned, but at the end of the letter, not Semyon, but Roman, was mentioned as a participant in the completion of the document, on the basis of which a number of researchers concluded that a mistake was made in the list by the copyist who changed the name and patronymic. [2]
Wife: unknown.
Children: the alleged daughter - Vasilisa Semenovna, from 1404 the wife of Prince Serpukhov-Borovsky Simeon Vladimirovich . [3] [4] (died after 1462 [4] ).
