History
After many years of unrecognized status, the village of Qasr es-Sir received official recognition by the state after a government decree of 881 dated September 29, 2003, in which eight previously illegal Bedouin settlements in the north of the Negev were recognized [1] . Cleaning of roads, water, sewage and electricity in the city’s houses has since been authorized by the government. Since the village was officially recognized by the state, many houses were built from recycled scrap and do not comply with current Israeli building codes, so the village needs huge investments.
When the Abu Basma Regional Council was dismantled on 5 November 2012 by order of the Israeli Ministry of the Interior , and two new regional councils were created in its place, Qasr es-Cyr became part of one of them, the Neve Midbar Regional Council .
