Mata [1] ( French: Mata ) is a city and suprefecture in Chad located in the Wadi Fera region . It is part of the Biltin department.

Geography
The city is located in the eastern part of Chad, at a distance of approximately 686 kilometers east-northeast (ENE) from the country's capital N'Djamena . The absolute height is 764 meters above sea level [2] . The climate of the city is characterized as arid hot ( BWh in the Köppen climate classification ).
Population
According to the 2009 official census, the population of Mata was 13,739 people (6,217 men and 7,522 women). The population of the city by age range was as follows: 52% - residents under 15 years old, 41.6% - between 15 and 59 years old and 6.4% - aged 60 years and older [3] .
