Biography
Igor Kornet was born on April 29, 1973 in the family of a professional officer of the Soviet Army Alexander Kornet. In 1989 he graduated from the school at the GSVG in Halle ( GDR ), after which he entered the Poltava Higher Anti-aircraft Missile Command Red Banner School named after Army General Vatutin . [1] [2]
In 1993, he entered the service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine. In 1999, he was dismissed from the post of a policeman of the police patrol service of the Oktyabrsky district department of the Central Internal Affairs Directorate in the Luhansk region. [1] [2] [3]
Until 2014, he worked as a criminal investigation officer at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine in the Luhansk region . During the fighting in the Donbass fought on the side of the Lugansk People’s Republic . [1] [2]
Since August 27, 2014 - Minister of Internal Affairs of the LPR. [1] [2] On November 20, 2017, he was removed from office by the head of the LPR Igor Plotnitsky , but refused to leave the post, continuing to work as minister [4] [5] , ignoring the orders of the LPR leadership and arresting some of its representatives [6] [7 ] [7 ] ] [8] . After the resignation of the head of the LPR Igor Plotnitsky, Igor Kornet continued to work as Minister of the Interior of the LPR [9] [10] .
It is wanted in the framework of criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 109 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (actions aimed at forcibly changing or overthrowing the constitutional order or seizing state power) [1] [2] [3] .
Since March 2017, the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (GSU SKR) has been investigating the role of Kornet in the murder of a Russian citizen Artyom Bulgakov in November 2016 [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] [16] [17 ] ] [18] [19] .
