Biography
Information about the early life of Caleo Juvidya is contradictory. According to the most common version, he was born in the central part of Siam between 1922 and 1932 [6] in a poor Thai-Chinese family. His parents raised ducks and traded fruit in Phichita . My father came from China, emigrated from Hainan [7] .
Having not received school education, Caleo Juvidya began to work with his parents, then moved to Bangkok . He began to sell antibiotics, and in the early 1960s founded his own pharmaceutical company TC Pharmaceuticals [8] [9] . Some time later, after, in his own words, “divine inspiration,” Yuvidya developed the Kratting Daeng energy drink, which entered the market in 1976. Two large red bulls attacking each other were depicted on the product logo. It was not livestock that was portrayed, but wild gaur , known in Southeast Asia under the Thai name as crating ( Thai. กระทิง ).
Austrian entrepreneur Dietrich Mateschitz , who worked for the German company Blendax , found out about the drink in the early 1980s. He discovered that Krating Daeng allows you to get rid of jetlag , and in 1984 entered into a partnership agreement with Juvidia to start sales in Europe. In 1987, an export version under the Red Bull brand entered the market. Yuvidya in partnership provided an original recipe for a drink, and Mateschitz adapted it to the tastes of Europeans and was engaged in marketing [10] . Each invested $ 500,000 in the case, receiving 49% of the franchise , the remaining 2 percent was transferred to Chalerm Juvidye, the son of Chaleo Juvidya. In addition to this brand, Caleo Juvidya remained the owner of TC Pharmaceuticals, which produced other energy drinks, and was also co-owner of the private Piyavat hospital.
The Juvilla family also holds exclusive rights to import Ferrari cars to Thailand.
On March 17, 2012, Caleo Juvidya died in Bangkok from natural causes [11] [12] .
