Arison ( Spanish: Arizona ) is a municipality in the Atlantis department in Honduras . It was founded on February 14, 1990. Area - 568.77 km 2 . The population is 21,179 residents (2012) [1] .

Previously, a village was located on the site of the municipality. It got its name, probably from the name of the state of Arizona in the USA. In 1951, the village acquired the status of a village. In 1990, it became a municipality, which included 26 villages and 45 villages [1] .
The municipality is located on a plain off the coast of the Caribbean Sea in the Lian River Basin. Altitude is 8 meters. It borders in the north with the Caribbean Sea, in the south with the municipality of Yoro, in the east with the municipality of Esparta and in the west with the municipality of Tela. Arison's territory is crossed by a motorway linking the municipalities of Tela and La Ceiba [1] .
The main branch of the local economy is agriculture. Crops, African palm, coffee, cocoa, fruits (banana, citrus) and vegetables are grown. Animal husbandry (sheep, pigs, rabbits) and poultry farming are developed [1] .
Arison has health and education facilities. The latter includes 14 kindergartens, 8 centers of preschool education, 39 primary schools, 7 elementary secondary schools, 5 senior secondary schools [1] .
Developed infrastructure. The municipality can be reached by road and rail. Communication is represented by telegraph and mail. The state provides the local population with electricity and is responsible for water supply [1] .
