Besov, Dmitry Nikolaevich

Dmitry Nikolaevich Besov (born April 16, 1924 , Leningrad ) - founder and first director of the Smena football school in St. Petersburg .

Biography

He grew up in Leningrad. He spent seven months in the city of the Leningrad blockade , in 1942 he was evacuated to Vladivostok with his mother, who headed the department at the children's hospital. In Vladivostok, he was drafted into the army, graduated from radio courses, passed from Stalingrad to Berlin. After the war, he remained in military service for some time. He studied at the Military Institute of Physical Education, then coached the football team of the House of Officers of the Northern Fleet in Severomorsk .

In 1956 he returned to Leningrad, worked as a senior coach of the central children's sports school of the city department of education. In 1967, he became the initiator and first director of the Smena specialized youth football school , where he worked for 52 years (director until 2005). Pupils of the school played in different teams of the Zenit football club; In 1984, the Zenit team, which became the USSR champion for the first time, included 10 students from the Besov school.

Since 2012, the annual tournament of children's football teams for the Dmitry Besov Cup has been held in St. Petersburg.
