At the same time, in the immediate vicinity began the construction of a number of high-rise buildings - the De Luxe residential skyscraper (which later changed its name to the February Revolution) of the Demidov and President business centers, which, although not related to the Ekaterinburg City project , complement its panorama and are often associated with it. Another skyscraper - the "White House" was built in this area as far back as 1978-1982. In 2008, the UMMC bought from the Sverdlovsk entrepreneur Mars Sharafulin the business center "Demidov" under construction in order to integrate it into the unified infrastructure of Yekaterinburg City [2] .
The total area of the business complex will be 750 thousand square meters. It is noted that no more than 35% of the territory is allocated for building so that as much space as possible is left for landscaping, sidewalks and public areas [3] .
According to the initial project, Yekaterinburg City was supposed to combine more than 400 thousand m² of commercial and retail space, offices, hotels, entertainment centers, cafes and restaurants. It was planned to build 12 objects: four office skyscrapers [4] , a business park with an emphasis on representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, the so-called shopping gallery and two hotels [5] . The area of the quarter was to be five hectares .
It was assumed that work on its construction should be completed in 2014 [3] , but in February 2009 the construction was suspended and its completion was postponed indefinitely [6] . The project cost is estimated at one billion euros [7] . The main investor of the project is UMMC-Holding [5] . UMMC planned to resume work on the construction of the quarter in the winter of 2010 no earlier than 2011 [8] , but the construction of the quarter was resumed in August 2010. As the Deputy General Director of UMMC-Holding OJSC Sergey Erypalov explained: “The financial results of 2009 and the first quarter of 2010 showed that we can implement this project. Now we have enough funds to continue the construction ” [9] .
