History
The first proposals for the construction of a new station in the north of Cambridge appeared in the Structural Plan for the Development of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough: its opening was seen as supporting the development of Cambridge in the north by providing an integrated transport network [3] . The station, in particular, was supposed to provide an alternative transport opportunity to get to Cambridge Science Park and connect the new northern areas with the center of Cambridge.
On December 18, 2013, the Cambridge City Council approved the construction of the station [4] . Work began in July 2014 , with the construction of a branch of the Cambridgeshire guided bus to the site of the future station [5] .
On May 21, 2017, the new station received the first passengers [1] . The official opening of the station was proclaimed on August 17, 2017 by the Secretary of State for Transport of Great Britain Chris Grayling [6] .
