Morphology
- The fruit bodies are hatched , in most species brightly colored.
- The cap is usually sticky or slimy.
- The plates are thick, usually rare and descending on the leg . They are much wider than in other families because of the thick tram layer and the greater length of the basidia .
- Covers are absent.
- White spore powder , colorless spores .
The central genus of the family - Hygrophorus ( Hygrophorus ) was previously divided into three groups: Limatsium ( Limacium ), Camarophyllus and Hygrocybe , the latter two are often united in one genus Hygrocybe , which usually grow in meadows. Species growing in the forests and forming mycorrhiza are now included in the genus Hygrophorus .
