History
The program was founded in 2002 on the wave of success of the judicial show Das Jugendgericht (with it. - "Juvenile Court"). On September 2, 2002, at 14:00 a.m., judicial shows were broadcast on RTL for three hours: first the first episode of the new program “Das Strafgericht” was released, then at 15:00 “Das Jugendgericht” and at 16:00 “ Das Familiengericht ". The program was released at this time until October 15, 2007: on August 30, 2007 RTL announced that on October 15 the already released episodes of “Das Strafgericht” and “Das Familiengericht” would not be shown due to changes in the program, which raised questions about the further show of the program as such [1] .
On September 20, 2007, RTL announced that “Das Strafgericht” would be aired at 4:00 p.m., immediately after it another judicial show, “ Staatsanwalt Posch ermittelt ” would be released ". All episodes of the current season were planned to be shot before November 22, 2007, and the show was broadcast until April 4, 2008 daily at 14:00 and 16:00. From April 21 to June 20, 2008, the latest nightly broadcasts of the program were shown.
From January 6, 2009 to February 4, 2012, “Das Strafgericht” was again shown on RTL, but already at 3:30 [2] . Since April 2, 2012, two episodes are shown on RTL Nitro, starting at 4:00, in chronological order of appearance on the screens. The show is also on RTLplus.

Reaction
The Media Studies and Research Institute criticized the Das Strafgericht program for showing stereotypical representatives of various social groups and for imposing prejudices, as well as for examining frankly awkward criminal cases that theoretically could not take place in the real world [3] .
