  Speed Skating

Compared to previous Games, a number of changes have occurred in the speed skating program. Competitions in the mass start were added, where athletes will need to overcome 16 laps, with three intermediate finishes, the points earned on which will help in the distribution of places, starting from the 4th [10] . Also, for the first time since 1994, skaters will run a distance of 500 meters only once [11] . The distribution of quotas was based on the results of the first four stages of the World Cup [12] . Based on their results, a consolidated qualification list was created [13] , according to which the Czech team became the owner of Olympic licenses at all women's distances, with the exception of the team race [14] .

Most of the Olympic licenses for the 2018 Games were distributed according to the results of the athletes performance at the 2017 World Cup [15] . According to its results, the Czech national team won only one license in men's single skating [16] , which was made possible thanks to the 18th place of Michal Brzezin . To obtain the missing Olympic quotas, it was necessary to successfully perform at the Nebelhorn Trophy tournament , where it was necessary to get into the number of 4-6 strongest depending on discipline [15] . Following the results of three days of competition, Czech athletes managed to win licenses in pair skating [17] and ice dancing [18] . On October 7, it was announced that athletes who won Olympic licenses were selected to participate in the Pyeongchang Games [19] .

Team competition

Team competitions in alpine skiing will debut in the program of the Olympic Games. The national team consists of 4 athletes (2 men and 2 women). Team competitions are held as parallel competitions using the gates and flags of the giant slalom. The winner of each individual round brings 1 point to his team.
