Biography
Born on January 20, 1953 in Kardzhali . Graduate of the Variety Department of the Bulgarian Academy of Music (1977). There he met Ekaterina Mikhailova and together they founded the duet "Riton".
The duet existed as “Studio 2” in 1977 (in 1978 both of them worked in Poland and participated in the international concert program “Melody of Friends” in the USSR ). Lyuben Tsvetkov, who was the leader of the student group “Tonus”, writes the first songs for “Riton” and the duet debuts with the song “You have to wait” (music - Zornitsa Popova ).
In the mid-1990s, they collaborated with Alexander Kiprov, Denny Draganov and Chocho Vladovsky. The song “Fire and Smoke” won the Golden Orpheus Grand Prix (1997) and the 2nd prize of the Interfest festival in Macedonia . In the same year, the song “Pirate Ship” received the award “Burgas and the Sea”. In Russia, they are often invited by friends Alla Pugacheva and Philip Kirkorov , where they are also very popular. In 1998, they received a special prize from the Union of Musicians "Golden Orpheus" for the song "Better Friends with Friends".
In 2001, Rhyton was chosen as the duo of the year at Melo TV Mania. Also “Riton” is the first duet to release a DVD, one of which featured their best video clips, and the other one featured live recordings. In 2005, they took part in the anniversary of composer Kirill Ikonomov and performed his latest song “Give a Chance”, and at the end of 2007 they celebrated their 30th anniversary on stage with a big concert in the hall of the First National Palace of Culture with a new double album “Two stars".
