Mehmet Genc (born May 4, 1934) is a Turkish historian , specialist in the economy of the Ottoman Empire .

Biography
Born May 4, 1934, was the seventh child. He graduated from Hop High School, then entered the Khaidarpash Lyceum, which he graduated in 1953. Among his teachers at the Lyceum were Nihal Atsyz and Mahir Iz . Together with Gencha, Mehmet авavuşo Гlu and Yashar Gunaydin studied at the Lyceum. After graduating from the Lyceum, he moved to Ankara, where he entered the University of Ankara . During his studies, he met poets Sezai Karakoch and Jemal Sureyey, historians Mete Tuncai and Taner Timur, as well as journalist Mehmet Shevket Eygi. In 1958 he graduated from the university. After the reforms of the 1950s, he became interested in studying the history of economics. Its supervisor was Omer Lutfi Barkan. In 1965-82, he worked at the Institute of Turkish Economic History at Istanbul University . He wrote a number of important works on the economic history of the Ottoman Empire [2] .
