Canadian Men's Curling Championship 1991

The 1991 Canadian Curling Championship for Men was held in Hamilton, Ontario from March 3 to 10, 1991 . [1] The tournament was held for the 62nd time. The championship was held in Ontario for the 26th time, in Hamilton for the second time.

The winner received the right to represent Canada (as the "team of Canada"; Eng. Team Canada ) at the 1991 World Cup , which was held in March 1991 in Winnipeg ( Canada ).

The winner also received the right to represent Canada at the Demonstration Curling Tournament at the Winter Olympics in February 1992.

The tournament was attended by 12 teams representing the provinces and territories of Canada .

The champion (the 17th time in the history of the championships) was the team representing the province of Alberta (for the team of Kevin Martin skip this was the 1st victory), who won in the final against the team representing the Saskatchewan province (Randy Woytowich skip). The team representing the province of British Columbia (skip Gerry Kent) won bronze medals.

Content

Competition Format

At the first, group stage, the teams play among themselves in a circular system in one circle. The three best teams of the group stage go to the second stage, playoffs , where they play according to the incomplete Olympic system : first in the semi-finals there are teams that took 2nd and 3rd place in the group stage. The loser in the semi-finals takes the overall 3rd place. In the finals, the winner of the semifinals and the team that took 1st place in the group stage are met.
