Game Description
The player controls the Japanese aircraft A6M Zero , armed with two machine guns and capable of dropping torpedoes. Ammunition in an airplane is unlimited. The player will have to fight against the U.S. Navy : the opponents are F6F Hellcat fighters (in the arcade version - F4U Corsair ), as well as American destroyers, aircraft carriers and submarines that will try to shoot down the plane. At the bonus stages, red fighters also appear (ordinary fighters - blue).
With the help of two machine guns, the player can shoot down planes, and with the help of torpedoes - sink enemy ships. Sometimes a player will encounter a B-24 Liberator bomber , who will also fire at the Zero: it is necessary to knock out all four engines from the bomber to leave. Each time a bomber is destroyed, all other enemy aircraft are destroyed. Carriers are very far away, but they don’t attack the player directly. If two B-24s are shot down, the player will detect a falling satellite as a bonus target: bonus points will be awarded for hitting a satellite. Similarly, bonus goals appear in the form of an airship (after the destruction of the destroyer) and a yacht (after the destruction of an enemy ship at night), for which points are also awarded.
A player will lose one life if at least one shell hits his plane or if a player touches water on the plane (wings of the plane are vulnerable). At the end of each level, the player will see a coastal battery on the island, which also needs to be destroyed in order to complete the mission. The game will end if the player loses all lives. The game is also characterized by the fact that the time of day changes here: day (blue sky), evening (orange sky), night (dark blue sky).
Sky Invader
There is a version of the game on the Internet called Sky Invader, in which different music sounds, other planes are depicted, and the player initially has not three lives, but nine.
Release
The game was released in 1985 in Japan, but because of its subject matter did not spread in the United States. In 1985, it was ported to the Nintendo Famicom console (model TFC-SD-4500), and FMG was re-ported in 1987.
