Since 2011, the station has the status of “just identified object of cultural heritage”, a monument of architecture and urban planning, monumental art [3] .

Design

Column station of deep laying . It has three underground halls - the middle and two halls with landing platforms. The halls of the station are divided among themselves by two rows of columns. The middle hall is connected to the ground lobby with an escalator tunnel. Due to the deep occurrence of the station, the escalator descent is divided into two parts, with an intermediate hall in the middle part. The station is very beautiful and made in the style of ancient Russian white-stone princely chambers. To decorate the station, a mosaic on the arches and antique stylized lamps were used.

Design

The initial station design, proposed before the start of the competition, was a fairly restrained, utilitarian station, decorated in white.

The height of the arch of the central hall of the station is increased; instead of pylons, relatively low cylindrical powerful columns lined with white marble are used. Patterned capitals are also made of the same marble. The white vault of the central hall is divided by diametrical mosaic strips of smalt with brickwork. Bronze two-level chandeliers are installed in the gaps between the strips (author - M. Ralko) with 12 light groups in each, covered with ornaments.

The vaults of the aisles on the platforms are underlined by a brick edging, between which are mosaic images of the princes of Kievan Rus , churches of Kiev and complex ornaments. None of these smalt mosaics are repeated. If you follow from arch to arch, you can trace who was the ruler of Kiev from the XI to XIII century. Under each image there is an inscription. Their list:

The track walls of the platforms are lined with combined elements of white and yellow marble, and the station names placed on them are laid out from metal letters with a slope in the old Russian style. From the platform side, round brick inserts are made above the column capitals, in which candelabra lamps are placed.

The walls of the walkways to both escalators are faced with white marble with brickwork, on the right wall from the side of the exit to the city there is a bronze plaque about the opening of the station and the team of authors. Above the escalator portals are mosaic panels illuminated by lamps.

The inter-march escalator hall has a cylindrical shape. The walls of the hall are marble with brickwork, in which niches are laid out, alternating with forged ventilation grilles. The eaves of the dome of the hall are made of brick with a wide mosaic ribbon.

Thanks to its design, the Zoloti Vorota metro station was ranked 11th in the ranking of the most beautiful stations in the world in 2011 (tourist edition Bootsnall) [4] . In 2012, the station was included in the list of 22 most beautiful metro stations in Europe (according to the Daily Telegraph) [5] .
