Monument to the nurse (Donetsk)

Monument to the nurse - a monument in Donetsk . It is located in the Kalininsky district on the territory of the Donetsk Basic Medical School .

The monument was unveiled on September 1, 1980 , on the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Donetsk Basic Medical School. The monument is dedicated to graduates of the school who participated in the Great Patriotic War , many of whom died in this war. The monument was created on the initiative of teachers and students of the school with the funds they collected.

The author of the monument is sculptor Alexander Porozhnyuk . The monument is a sculpture of forged copper. The height of the sculpture is 2.8 m, made in the workshops of the Donetsk Art Fund. The pedestal is flat, rectangular and laid out with marble slabs measuring 3.0 × 3.5 m. The sculpture is installed at the edge of the pedestal. There was a five-pointed star on the pedestal, but it was stolen by non-ferrous metal hunters and could not be restored. The monument generally has no inscriptions.

The sculpture is a full-length figure of a young girl - a military nurse . The girl is dressed in the army summer uniform of a fighter of the Red Army of the 1940s - a cap with a five-pointed star; tunic ; a skirt belted with an army belt and tarpaulin boots not on the leg - a size or two larger. A sisterly military bag hangs on its side. The figure of the girl has not yet formed. The face is focused. The sculpture stands on a half-meter base, a small height of the base brings the girl's figure closer to the viewer.
