Ratno

Ratno ( Ukrainian: Ratne ) is an urban-type settlement, the administrative center of the Ratnovsky district of the Volyn region of Ukraine . Known from the XIII century as a fort outpost, built to protect the western borders of the Galicia-Volyn principality .

It is located in the northern part of the region on the Pripyat River and the M-19 international highway.

History

The beginning of the appearance of Ratno dates back to the 13th century. The place was well known in Poland and Lithuania . At this time, there was a fort outpost built to protect the western borders of the Galicia-Volyn principality . It is from the word "army" (army) that the name of the town most likely comes from.

On March 19, 1945, the publication of a regional newspaper began here [2] .

In January 1989, the population was 7311 people [3] , at the beginning of 2013 - 9722 [4] .

Food, forestry and wood-chemical industries: creamery, food processing plant, wood-chemical plant, logging, etc.
