Description

The terrorist acts of September 11, 2001 served as an example for the commission of a crime that occurred in the area of Millfield, Peterborough, Cambridgeshire . On September 20, 2001, three Muslim men, Ahmed Ali Avan (22 years old at the time of the crime), Shaid Nazir (22 years old) and Sarfraz Ali (25 years old), under the influence of alcohol and drugs, decided to make a “hunt” or “mission” . Armed with a hunting knife , a hammer and a gas spray , we went to a nightclub in the Millfield, Peterborough area. At about 1 a.m. on September 21, they saw a guy and a girl walking along a footpath together. The victim was a local resident, 17-year-old Ross Parker, who was returning with his girlfriend Nicola Toms ( English Nicola Toms ) after working in the kitchen of the local club "Solstice". When they saw a group heading towards them in balaclavas , Ross whispered to his girlfriend to run away. After that, she rushed to run and called for help. When Nicola met a police patrol and returned with them to the scene of the attack, they found only Ross's bloodied body [4] .

Litigation

During the trial, the following was established. Shortly before the events described, Ahmed Ali Awan, Sarfraz Ali and Shaid Nazir, under the influence of drugs and alcohol, decided to go to the city and put things in order, so to speak, to make a “hunt”. Armed with a hammer, a hunting knife and a gas spray, we went to the local club. Shaid Nazir sprayed tear gas into the victim's face. Ahmed Ali Awan, the organizer of the “hunt,” saw a couple of young people walking down the street, attacked Ross Parker and stabbed him three times with a knife in the head and shoulder area. Safraz Ali at this time finished off the victim with a hammer. At the same time, jurors acquitted Zyaraf Marad, whose guilt was not proved. In the final part of the sentence, it was said that the three accused are sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term for submitting an application for early release after 18 years of imprisonment for Ahmed Ali Avan and 16 years for Sarfraz Ali and Shaid Nazir. Judge Sir Edwin Jowitt, in the final part of the sentence, emphasized that the three perpetrators came together to attack someone of another nationality who would meet in their way. Chief Detective Dick Harrison, who led the investigation into the murder, emphasized that he was completely satisfied with the outcome of the sentence. Also, despite the fact that the defendants denied the racial motive for their actions, this was a real crime motivated by racial hostility [5] [6] .
