Career
Jorge Soto was born in 1971 into a sports family. His older brother José (born 1970 ) is the central defender; in 1992-2003 he played 75 matches with the Peruvian national team. The younger brother of Giancarlo also became a football player, but did not achieve much success.
Jorge Soto began his professional career in 1990 with Deportivo Municipal from Lima . Two years later, he moved to another capital club, Sporting Crystal , which included played most of his career, with short-term departures in the championships of Argentina , Brazil and Mexico .
In total, Sporting Crystal Soto played 566 matches and scored 175 goals. As of November 2017, both of these indicators are club records. As part of the club, Jorge five times became the champion of Peru (1994-1996, 2002, 2005). In 1997, he reached the final of the Libertadores Cup , but there the Peruvians lost to the Brazilian Cruzeiro .
