Content
History
The commemorative medal “For the Campaigns” was established by the same decree No. 2870 of November 30, 1916 , which established the Military Cross , for delivery to military personnel participating in military operations outside of Portugal. The award was widely distributed during the First World War and during the Portuguese Colonial War .
The design of the medal underwent changes in 1919 , 1921 , 1946 , 1949 , 1971 and 2002 .
Regulation
The commemorative medal “For Campaigns” consists of one class. Metal straps are attached to the ribbon of the medal for specific military operations in which the soldier participated. From the date of the establishment of the medal, separate strips with the following inscriptions were approved:

Description
Type from 1971 to 2002
Round white metal medal.
Obverse - in the center is the middle national emblem of Portugal, from which the inscription around the circumference: "CAMPANHAS E COMISSÕES ESPECIAIS DAS FORÇAS ARMADAS PORTUGUESAS". Along the edge, the medal is bordered with a wreath of olive leaves with fruits, at the bottom there is a bow that extends beyond the edges of the circle. The crown of the city is crowned with a medal of five visible towers, between which are small shields with byzantines. The eyelet for the ring is attached to the crown.
Reverse - against the background of the wall, the bricks of which bear the names of military operations, under the state flag on the podium are a pilot (in the center), on the sides of which there is a soldier and sailor. Around the circle is the inscription: “ESTE REINO É OBRA DE SOLDADOS”.
The medal is attached to the ribbon using a ring.
Medal ribbon olive (light green) in color with red stripes at the edges.
