Equifax

Equifax is an American credit bureau . Equifax collects information from more than 800 million individuals and more than 88 million companies worldwide. Founded in 1899, located in Atlanta , Georgia . It is one of the three largest credit agencies in the US along with Experian and TransUnion (collectively they are called the “Big Three”). [4] Equifax's annual revenue is $ 3.1 billion; the company employs more than 9 thousand employees in 14 countries.

In addition to credit scoring , providing credit ratings and demographic data for businesses [5] , Equifax offers commercial credit monitoring and fraud prevention services directly to consumers. [6] Under US law, like other credit bureaus, Equifax provides US residents with one free credit rating report per year. [7]

In September 2017, Equifax reported that it was the largest hacker from mid-May to July 2017, [8] [9] [10] during which attackers gained access to personal data of 145.5 million people, residents of the United States, Canada and the UK . Full names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, address and, in some cases, driver's license numbers were stolen. Information about 209 thousand credit cards was also stolen. The company claims to have discovered evidence of cybercrime on July 29, 2017.
