Am Jerez ( FR Am Djarass ) or Amjeres is a city and suprefecture in Chad , located in the East Ennedi region (until 2012 - Ennedi ). It is the administrative center of the department of Am Jerez .

Geographical position

The city is located in the northeastern part of Chad, within the southern tip of the Ennedi plateau, at an altitude of 1020 meters above sea ​​level [1] . Am Jerez is located at a distance of approximately 938 kilometers northeast of the country's capital N'Djamena .

Climate

The climate of the city is characterized as arid hot ( BWh in the Köppen climate classification ). The average annual temperature is 25.6 ° C. The average temperature of the coldest month (January) is 20.1 ° C, the hottest month (June) is 30 ° C. Estimated long-term rainfall is 124 mm. Throughout the year, the amount of precipitation is unevenly distributed, most of which falls in the period from June to October. Most precipitation falls in August (61 mm) [2] .
