History
It was founded after the British philanthropist David Robinson ( British David Robinson ) offered the university 17 million pounds to create a new college in Cambridge (later, after the official opening Robinson allocated another 1 million £). The first graduate students and fellows entered college in 1977, the next year, bachelors were first accepted. In May 1981, Robinson College was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II [2] .
The college is one of the main conference centers of the University of Cambridge. As a rule, events take place during the summer holidays when students are absent [3] . In addition, Robinson has a special conference center 32 kilometers west of Cambridge, in Wyboston ( English Wyboston ) on the border with Bedfordshire . Both random and regular events are held there.
In 1985, on the basis of the college, the Research Institute named. Needham Research Institute , a researcher in East Asian science, technology and medicine [4] [5] .
