Khao Sam Roy Yot ( Thai : เขา สาม ร้อย ยอด) is a national park located in central Thailand in the province of Prachuap Khiri Khan . The area of the park is 98 km 2 [1] . Khao Sam Roy Yot was founded in 1966 and is Thailand's first coastal national park. In 1982, the national park was expanded and landscaped by order of King Rama IX [2] .
“Khao Sam Roy Yot” from Thai can be literally translated as “a mountain of 300 peaks”. The maximum height of Khao Sam Roy Yot reaches 605 m. Several freshwater swamps located in the national park have been transformed into shrimp farms [3] .
The territory of the park is covered with mangroves, snow-white sandy beaches and high mountains. The park serves as the habitat for a large number of various local birds and animals, including giant monitor lizards more than a meter long and monkeys, as well as birds, flying for winter from cold countries. Mount Khao Sam Roy Yot (300 m) serves as a shelter for ships and ferries during a storm. The park is full of interesting places to visit [4] .
Khao Aaeng Observation Deck and Ban Khao Aaeng Village are located 400 meters from the central office of the park, from where excursions by boat take place in the area. The sandy beach of Hat Sam Phraiya, as well as the cave of stalactites and stalagmites Tham Khao, is 3.5 km from the national park. Khao Sam Roy Yot is located 58 km south of Hua Hin . Tham Sai Cave is located 9 km from the national park. Her study will take about 30 minutes. Near the cave is the village of Khung Tanot. In addition, 16 km north of the national park is the sandy beach of Hat Aaem Sala. You can get there either by boat or on foot from the village of Bang Pu [4] .
Phraya Nakhon Cave
Phraya Nakhon Cave is located 17 km north of Khao Sam Roy Yot, and is considered part of the national park. Excursions to the cave are organized by the administration of the national park. The huge cave has two halls. The halls are well lit, in the upper arch of the cave there is a large hole that lets rays of sunlight pass through. Various small plants, as well as large trees, grow in the cave. A stunning sight in the light of the sunshine is Phra Thinang Khuha Kharuhat, a Thai-style pavilion that has become the undeniable symbol of the Prachuap Khiri Khan district. The pavilion was built in Bangkok in 1890 during the reign of Rama V Chulalongkorn , then the pavilion was disassembled and moved to this cave. The kings of Tham Phraya Nakhon were visited by the kings of Thailand: in 1890, King Rama V Chulalongkorn, who personally covered the roof of the pavilion with resin, King Rama VI Wachiravud . King Rama IX of Bhumibol Adulyadej came to the cave twice [5] .
