Albert Ippel ( him. Albert Ippel ; July 2, 1885 , Berlin - 1960 , Munich ) - German teacher, classical archaeologist , Slavic . The first researcher of the Belarusian folk art [3] .

Biography
Albert Ippel studied classical archeology in Freiburg , Berlin and Bonn , and in 1910 he graduated from the doctoral studies at Bonn University .
During the First World War, he was part of the 10th German Army in Belarus, began studying folk art here , in 1918 gave two exhibitions in Vilnius and Minsk , and also introduced the term “ Belarusian art ” ( German die weissruthenische Kunst ) [ 4] in contrast to the Polish and Russian and published a book on this topic [3] .
In 1923 - 1940 he taught in Breslau and Berlin. In 1940 he received the title of honorary professor of archeology at the University of Berlin . Since 1947 - Honorary Professor of the University of Hamburg . At the same time he worked as a speaker at the Imperial Film and Image Institution in Science and Education ( German Reichsanstalt für Film und Bild in Wissenschaft und Unterricht )
Since 1954 , retired. In 1955 he was awarded the Order of Merit for the Federal Republic of Germany .
Family
He was married to Erme Letai (1886-1972), the daughter of Egyptologist Adolf Erman .
