The Maza-Jugla River originates in the Taurup volost on the western slopes of the Central Vidzeme Upland [2] . It flows mainly in a westerly direction through forests parallel to the Liela-Jugla River . In the lower reaches, it flows along the Primorsky Lowland . It merges with the Liela-Jugla River in the southeastern part of Jugla Lake [2] .
The river is winding, the banks are mostly lowland [3] . The bottom is rocky and sandy, in some places small rapids. The fall of the channel in the upper reaches is 3-4 m / km. On the banks of the places there are Devonian outcrops. In the lower reaches, reeds, reeds and calamus grow along the banks [2] . Near the village of Dobilnieki, a hydroelectric station is built on the river.
