Turner, Cuthbert

Cattbert Hamilton Turner ( Eng. Cuthbert Hamilton Turner ; 1860-1930) - Anglican theologian , historian of early Christianity , and explorer of the New Testament.

He studied at Winchester College . In 1879, Turner came to Oxford and entered the New College of Oxford University , at Oxford, he remained until his death, holding various posts as a researcher and teacher. Since 1889, Turner is a member of the British Academy . In 1889-1930, Turner was an employee of Magdalen College . In 1920-1930, Turner was a professor of exegetics of the Holy Scriptures of the Dean of Ireland . The objects of his research were issues of chronology and textology related to fathers and canon law . He was unable to complete several major projects. His main work is lat. The Ecclesiae Occidentalis Monumenta Iuris Antiquissima , known as EOMIA, an extensive collection of documents relating to early Western European canon law, was published in separate books from 1899 to 1939. His articles related to the chronology of the New Testament are published in the Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible , and his Greek Patristic Commentaries article is also published in the same edition. Turner was the first editor of the Journal of Theological Studies (1899-1902), for whom he wrote articles throughout his life. Turner was an associate at Patristic Greek Lexicon, a publication initiated by Henry Barkley Sweet .
