Ehby

It is located at the confluence of the Ekhba stream in Ukhomyt in its lower course ^[1] . There were no permanent roads to the village. The nearest town is Chigichinakh .

The village is named after the stream of the same name, the hydronym, in turn, appeared in 1936 during geological exploration in its basin. The search engines really hoped to find a gold deposit here, and one of the washmen kept repeating: “Oh, to find a good placer!” This dream was embodied in the name of the nameless stream on the map. Subsequently, another stream, where the placer was discovered, was called Takba .

Another name for the village appeared in 1961 in honor of the flight of the astronaut G. S. Titov , it was featured in some geological reports, but it was never officially fixed ^{[2] [3]} .

It was founded in 1960 by the mine "40 years of October" in the development of the nearby gold deposit. It was a small comfortable village, built up next to one-story houses. There was an elementary school, kindergarten, health center, club, shop. The number of inhabitants ranged from 200-300 people ^[3] .

Ehby became one of the first villages closed in the Kolyma in the post-Soviet era ^[4] .
