The 1999 Canadian Curling Championship for Men ( Eng. 1999 Labatt Brier ) was held in Edmonton ( Alberta ) from March 6 to March 14, 1999 . [1] The tournament was held for the 70th time. In Alberta, the championship was held for the 9th time, in Edmonton - for the 4th time.

The winner received the right to represent Canada (as the “team of Canada”; English Team Canada ) at the 1999 World Championships , which took place in April 1999 in St. John ( New Brunswick , Canada ).
The tournament was attended by 12 teams representing the provinces and territories of Canada .
The champion representing the province of Manitoba became the champion (26th time in the history of the championships (for Jeff Stoughton skip team this was the 2nd victory), having won in the final against the team representing the Quebec province (Guy Hemmings skip).

Competition Format
At the first, group stage, the teams play among themselves in a circular system in one circle. The four best teams of the group stage go to the second stage, playoffs , where they play according to the Page system : the two best teams according to the results of the group round hold a match for a direct hit in the finals (playoffs-1). The 3rd and 4th teams play for reaching the semifinals (playoffs-2). In the semifinals, there is a loser in the first match and a winner in the second. In the finals, gold awards are disputed by the winners of the playoffs and semifinals. Match for 3rd place is not held.
