For the first time the story "Nakhalenok" was published in the newspaper "Young Leninist", No. 121-131, May 30 - June 12, 1925 . He included a story in the author's collections “Azure Steppe” ( 1926 ) and “Azure Steppe. Don stories. 1923―1925 ( 1931 ).
Story
The duration of the work is the end of the summer of 1920. The protagonist of the story, seven-year-old Minka with the offensive nickname “Nakhalyonok”, lives with her mother and grandfather in one of the Upper Don Cossack villages. Minky's parents were not crowned at the time of his birth, which is the subject of ridicule from the pereborok neighbors and peers. During the Civil War, the boy’s father, a former shepherd who passed through the First World War and took the side of the Bolsheviks, perishes at the hands of the White Cossacks. Minka himself witnesses the tragic events that leave a deep imprint on his childish soul.
Prototypes
The story “Nakhalenok” “partly autobiographical,” Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov himself became the prototype of Minki. In a conversation with E.G. Levitskaya writer called the story "partly autobiographical" [1] . Mn Sholokhov recalled that the writer's father “called his only son Minkoy. Peers <...> Mishka and Nakhalenko, as the parents of Mikhail Aleksandrovich Sholokhov were not crowned until 1913 ” [2] .
Criticism
In one of the first reviews about “Nakhalenok”, in the bulletin of the bibliographic institute “The Book for the Builders of Socialism”, a masterful display by the author of the awakening and growth of the “class self-awareness of the poor Cossack layers, especially the youth of even children,” was noted [3] .
I.G. Lezhnev wrote about the compositional harmony of the story and the "richness of intonation" in the work, which is closely related to the psychological analysis of the characters of the characters:
| The narrative is conducted as if by the tone of an impartial, objective narrator; at the same time, the author’s speech conceals a tender, paternal smile, so the voice of a father could sound, lovingly telling about the heroism of his dear little son; the third note is interwoven here: this is a sensation of the world, a vision of the life and people of the baby himself ... Three voices are fused together and with great artistic tact and flair each time forward, covering the two remaining voices, then one, then the other, then the third [4] . |
Adaptations
The work is filmed. Based on the story at the film studio " Mosfilm " in 1961, the eponymous television feature film Nakhalenok was shot. Director EE Karelov , script A. Vitola .
It is impossible not to recall in the film the irresistible protagonist Minku, whose image lived unforgettably, and not just the young Vladimir Semenov played. His inimitable: “And you, dedunyushka, mark it!” - forever remains in the soul of the audience of this ageless film, which received a special prize at the Monte Carlo film festival.
