The castle is a tower of the XV century, located in a wooded area, on the territory of the Newbridge House on the lands of Donabate. The tower was part of the castle system, which was built at the expense of the kings of England, which since 1429 have been giving out £ 10 for each castle construction around Pale, an English colony in Ireland in the present county of Dublin.
The castle is pretty well preserved. It is one of the three best preserved castles on the Donabate Peninsula. Historical documents say that the castle was inhabited until 1700, then it became unsuitable for housing and was used as a stable. Apparently, the castle still had additional buildings besides the main tower, but they did not survive. The main entrance to the castle was in the north wall. On the western wall there are secondary doors made later.
Leinstone Castle is located near the Newbridge House (Donabate Castle ), open to tourists. But if Newbridge House is well maintained and tidied up, then Leinstone Castle is abandoned and continues to collapse. Few people know about it and tourists do not visit it.
