Geographical position
The city is located in the southeastern part of Chad, east of the Hadger-Arkop ridge, at an altitude of 553 meters above sea level [3] . Goz Beida is located approximately 680 kilometers east of the capital, N'Djamena .
Climate
The city's climate is characterized as semi-desert hot ( BSh in the Köppen climate classification ). The average annual temperature is 27.3 ° C. The average temperature of the coldest month (January) is 24.2 ° C, the hottest month (May) is 30.9 ° C. The estimated multi-year rainfall is 606 mm. During the year, the amount of precipitation is unevenly distributed, the bulk of them falling between May and October. The greatest amount of precipitation falls in August (214 mm) [4] .
Population
According to the official census of 2009, the population of Goz-Beida was 66,107 people (32,441 men and 33,666 women). Children under the age of 15 accounted for 55.4% of the total number of inhabitants of the sub-prefecture [5] .
