The kindly “Baia” Vidic ( December 24, 1918 , Čačak - March 3, 1992 , Belgrade , Serbia ) is a Yugoslav and Serbian state, political and diplomatic figure. Chairman of the Presidium of the Socialist Republic of Serbia (1978-1982). Hero of Socialist Labor SFRY .

Biography

Since 1938 - member of the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia (SKMYu). In 1939 he joined the Union of Communists of Yugoslavia . He was secretary of the UCLA District Committee for Macedonia .

In February 1940, he became a member of the Macedonian District Committee of the Republic of Macedonia. Since 1941, he participated in the partisan struggle in Vojvodina . Political Commissioner of the 3rd Dalmatian and 7th Bani shock brigades.

Secretary of the Uzhitsky district committee of the Communist Party and a member of the Agitprop (propaganda committee) of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Serbia.

After the war he was a member of the CPY District Committee on Vojvodina. Member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Communist Party. In 1946-1951 - First Secretary of the Union of Communists of Vojvodina as part of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia .

Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Serbia and the Audit Commission of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Yugoslavia.

Since 1952, in diplomatic work. Advisor to the Ambassador of the SFRY in Germany (from May 1951 to 1952).

From 1952 to 1953 - the ambassador of Burma , from 1953 to 1956 - the ambassador of the SFRY in the USSR . From 1958 to 1960 - Permanent Representative of Yugoslavia to the United Nations .

From 1961 to 1965 - Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Union of the Working People of Yugoslavia .

In 1965-1969 he was again the ambassador of the SFRY in the USSR . Ambassador of Yugoslavia in London (1970-1973).

In 1972-1974 - deputy and member of the Presidium of the Union Assembly of the SFRY and the Assembly of Serbia.

Member of the Central Committee and Politburo of the Union of Communists of Yugoslavia (from 1982 to 1986).

Member of the Presidium of the SFRY and Chairman of the Presidium of the Socialist Republic of Serbia from May 5, 1978 to May 5, 1982.

He was buried in the Alley of Honored at the New Cemetery in Belgrade.
